“Great place to stay near the Grand Canyon”

Conveniently located off I-40 about a half hour west of Flagstaff and about an hour south of the Grand Canyon, the Canyon Motel and RV Park was a perfect location for sightseeing the Grand Canyon and Flagstaff area. The staff was friendly and welcoming and made sure all of our questions were answered. The RV park has a great restroom/shower/laundry facility as well as complimentary WiFi and cable TV access. The RV parking is all pull-through and large enough to handle almost any size rig. From this location we were able to ride the Grand Canyon Railway's "Polar Express" on Christmas Eve, backtrack to the Grand Canyon Caverns an hour west, visit family in Flagstaff 30 minutes east, and have lunch in Sedona about 45 minutes south via Flagstaff. First class operation and really deserves to be recognized.

This is our second time staying at the Canyon Motel. It is our lodging place of choice when in northern Arizona. There is NOTHING that can beat the experience of staying in a red caboose for children! My kiddos were thrilled beyond belief when we turned into the driveway for this property ~ they remembered how special it was last year and couldn't believe we were back! There are other "room types" besides the train cars at the Canyon Motel, but it's worth the price to stay in these one-of-a-kind accommodations! Great floor plan / lay-out for families, as well. It was a fabulous complement to our Polar Express experience and we wouldn't stay ANYWHERE else!!

This was truly like going to the old west and finding GOLD. This little Gem of a property had it all. It was centrally located like a Hub and the front desk girl (we found out later was the owner) was like a five star concierge. She told us about all the sites, trips, adventures and things we could do during our stay. We had some families going one way and others going another, but we always finished up back at the Canyon Motel & RV. She gave us discount coupons for local restaurants and told us where to go and where she advised us not to go to eat. We had a couple families stay in the RV Park, so we were able to take advantage of them when we all pilled in for that unforgettable trip to the Grand Canyon.
Breathtaking really doesn’t say it all! You must see it. They also have the original 1940’s rock cabins you can stay in and some original train cars. We loved this place so much and will look forward to returning very soon. (Next time in a train car or Caboose)

This place is great. We stayed there in our RV for our visit to the Grand Canyon. They also have cabins you can stay in and there are three different train cars you can stay in. The people are very nice. The area is beautiful. Our Rv spot was in the trees which was wonderful. Some of the old trees have been carved into Eagles, racoons and other little critters. Very clean laundry and shower facilites. There were also places for tents. So wether you are in an RV or looking for a place to stay in a tent or just get a room it is the place to go. Can't wait til we can go back for another visit. Thanks for a great time.

We came in late in the evening, and they were very helpful. We got a nice comfortable, clean room in an verry funny little cottage. With a small terrace. They have all kinds of fun places to sleep (like in a train). The price was als very good. The location is good when you are traveling to the Grand Canyon.

Very easy access to old 66 and short trip into town for anything. Location on east side of town is quiet with great view in pines and on edge of govt. land that is not improved. Find it on Google Earth and see for yourself. Suggest calling Marvelous Marv for day trip to the Grand Canyon and leave your vehicle parked here.
We stayed in our travel trailer in #40 behind the cabins. Viewed cabins behind cleaning crew.

We called from the road 3 hours ahead to book an RV site (we had researched it online before the trip), and came in late at night. Assignment of site and all info were in a box at the entrance with a friendly note welcoming us. This is a nice clean place to stay, with the best restroom and shower facilities I've seen yet at an RV Park. The owners seem very conscientious and eager to provide a good experience. I would heartily recommend this place to anyone with or without an RV.

Canyon Motel: We stayed at the Canyon Motel while visiting the Grand Canyon over New Year's weekend. We would have liked to stay in a rail car, but as they're not winterized, we stayed in a king room in one of the flagstone cottages instead. Our room had charming decor and was very clean and cozy (but not cramped) with plenty of character to boot. The fridge, microwave and coffee maker came in handy (the previous reviewer who had to pay for coffee must not have taken advantage of this feature), and the dining table was very handy. My partner broke her arm at the Grand Canyon on the second day of our stay, so our checkout was delayed somewhat and the office staff was very gracious about allowing a later checkout time. Also, she was able to shower comfortably in the bathroom - even in a plaster splint with a garbage bag tied over it! The motel isn't in the very center of town, but it's just a short drive away and very convenient to I-40 and the road to the Grand Canyon. We enjoyed our stay and would definitely stay here again.

It's rare that I rate a property 5 stars, but the Canyon Motel deserves just that! We stayed in Caboose No. 1, which was a fabulous, magical experience for our children (and us, too!) We checked in upon arrival in Williams for the Polar Express, and our stay in the caboose just made the entire evening that much more special. I almost hesitated to write this review, fearing that others would try for a Caboose/Polar Express combo ~ but I've booked our stay for next year, so I'm not worried! In fact, I'd recommend that anyone coming to Williams for the Polar Express experience try to reserve a caboose at the Canyon Motel vs. the hotel at the Grand Canyon Railway Depot ~ it really is a unique, fun way to add a special dimension to the experience!
The layout in the caboose is perfect for a family ~ when you walk in, there's a bed for the parents, along with a TV, fridge, and microwave. The bathroom is in the center of the caboose and has a sink, toilet, and shower. At the back of the caboose is a bed big enough to be shared by two children, with their own TV/VCR combo, and then an upper bunk. My kids were transfixed by the stay ~ it truly was delightful!

After a long day of work and a longer night driving, it was great to roll up to this perfectly quaint and comfortable roadside repository. 2am saw my buddy and I driving up to the even-in-the-dark-cute compound of respectable and clean cabin-rooms. 2 beds, fridge, wall heater and HOT morning shower got us good-to-go for our 30 mile trek into the wild. Nancy, front desk concierge was also extremely friendly and helpful amidst hundreds of inviting Grand Canyon/Arizona impulse buy trinkets. Would stay again and would try a Box Car room in one of the vintage Rail Cars.
